According to the latest data from the NBS, China's copper semis production in August 2024 was 1.9253 million mt, up 1.3% MoM and up 3.2% YoY.
China's copper processing industry continues its regional cluster development. Regionally, in August, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Anhui ranked as the top five provinces in copper semis production, with shares of 24.52%, 15.2%, 13.26%, 11.59%, and 6.32%, respectively, accounting for 70.88% of the total production.
Specifically, China's copper semis production increased by 3.2% MoM, rising from 1.9001 million mt in July to 1.9253 million mt in August. By province, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu produced 472,000 mt, 292,600 mt, and 255,300 mt, respectively. In Jiangxi, due to the impact of the "Fair Competition Ordinance," copper semis production decreased by 6.13% MoM in August. In contrast, Hubei, Tianjin, and Shandong saw significant MoM increases in copper semis production, with Hubei experiencing a substantial rise of 23.18% MoM.
